Pardon Our Spiff!

Well, if you're looking at this right now, you know that I've been up to something because it's not orange anymore :)

HPFF is a big site and, unlike most big sites, it doesn't have an unlimited budget for pursuading people to integrate all of its componants so, like a very small site, not all of it's peices are built on the same structure, so they don't all match...per se ;) Well, we're about to change that. Jay, Cattlyst and myself have been working diligently this week to bring you a cleaner, shinier HPFF.
Part work in the database, Cattlyst has been toiling tirelessly to tie up the loose ends of our recode, add new elements to the site and his work hasn't gone unnoticed by the staff or the membership. In the last month, he has implimented a much loved and long requested "Remember Me" function to the login system, allowing your sessions to remain active for a longer period of time. He gave users the ability to delete their own stories, set up your author status (trusted or otherwise) to appear on your Manage Stories page, got the Favorite Authors, Favorite Stories, Favorite Author Of, etc.. counts and lists on your Author Page live so that we can all keep tabs on one another and even set up a "top" script that indexes such details as top reviewed story, top read story and top reviewer. Beyond all of that, he's made a lot of minor edits and gone to work on a lot of big changes, behind the scenes, that you will be seeing the benefits of as soon as we can.

Jay, our diligent site owner, has excersized an inordinate amount of patience in working with myself and Nick and our frequent accidental crushing of the archive to upload, impliment, comment on and get us rolling with technical and esthetic changes to the site over the last month - all in addition to the regular work he does on the same projects.

Meanwhile, I've made a nice visible mess of things. In the last few days, Jay has kindly updated 6 skins that, while they're pretty are a smidge...buggy :) Old skins - snowscape, writing, etc... - have been permanently removed in the interest of turning to a system that supports a single layout - easier for updating as new elements are added to the site as well as for finding things :) Until they're all ironed out, however, you know you can trust the Castle and Dark Mark skins to be tested and fully functional. I can promise that, over the course of the next few days, we will be working on a few changes to the way that the site is skinned which will make it easier for Jay, Cattlyst and myself to make changes to things - it may be a bit of a bumpy ride but we'll all be happier in the end.

Well, anywhoo, there's your update and I promise to keep you posted as more changes are made and fun new buttons appear :)

*pours on the love* You guys are amazing. I am absolutely LOVING the new features, and I know firsthand how much works going into even minor changes, so I can't even begin to fathom how much time you spent on this. It's brilliant. <3<3<3
