Back to School

It seems that everyone here at HPFF is in the throes of going back to school. Be it as a student of any kind or as a teacher, getting back into a routine of meeting deadlines and turning things in (and, dare I say it, thinking ) isn't usually on the top of anyone's list, mine included. I was hit by two at once - teaching and taking two classes at the graduate level.

So far this school year has been interesting. It's my fifth year of teaching, and I'm enjoying it more than any year so far. Maybe I sort of know what I'm doing now and can reach the point where I feel like I'm making a difference in my students. An added little perk this year is that the kids seem to be giving me almost unlimited inspiration for how to characterize my little first-years in my novel. I mean, I was kind of freaked out on the first day of school when I saw ickle Scorpius Malfoy walking through my classroom door... Let's hope I don't slip and call this kid by that name. That would be, to say the least, very embarrassing.

i'm back at school now :) i have to admit i would never want to teach, and i cant complain when i think about all the work teachers do for their students. have a good year :D

goodness you have a scorpius in there? xD that should be one interesting class. i'm back in school now too, and gee wiz its kicking my butt.

Aw, I bet you're the best teacher ever. :) It would kind of be funny if you called the Scorpius-lookalike Scorpius, though...most kids would probably get the reference!

School is a monstrous thing. Looming on the horizon I have thirteen GSCEs, two maths A-Levels and science and history coursework and yet, here I am, on HPFF with no intention of doing work over the weekend, unless you count trying to write updates for two stories. Such is the evilness of life and schooling.

It would be so funny if you did call the Scorpius child by his namesake, I bet you could create a nickname he'd never live down. Oh, the fun that would be...

If only I had a teacher like you at my school. I don't think any of mine would believe me if I said that I hadn't done my english prep that night because I was writing an alternative universe, marauder era sonfic!

Have a good year!

Aww, a Scorpius Malfoy in your class! That's got to be so cute! How'd you recognize him?

I was auditing a class at the UW-Madison last year, and I ended up sitting behind this boy who had the most platinum-blonde hair and was a dead-ringer for Tom Felton. I pretty much called him "Draco" in my head all the time...thank Gods I never slipped up! :D
